1.1A Senate resolution

1.2commending Jane Berenz for many years of dedicated service to the education 

1.3profession.

1.4WHEREAS, a member of the education profession must believe in the ability of all students
         

1.5to learn; and

 1.6WHEREAS, a caring, enthusiastic, and skilled superintendent is a major factor in establishing
         

1.7a good educational climate; and

 1.8WHEREAS, a superintendent must be a model of good deportment and moral character, for 

1.9students learn by example; and

 1.10WHEREAS, besides imparting knowledge, superintendents are called upon to motivate 

1.11students to learn and to develop their communication and social skills; and

 1.12WHEREAS, Jane Berenz, the superintendent of Independent School District No. 196, 

1.13Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan, is retiring after many years of service; and

 1.14WHEREAS, under Jane's leadership, District No. 196 is now the 4th largest district in the
         

1.15state, with 33 schools, over 28,000 students, and a staff of 4,000, and has a 92 percent
         graduation 

1.16rate and an average ACT score of 24, both well above the state average; and

1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it 

1.18commends Jane Berenz for her many years of dedication and commitment.

 1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a 

1.20copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that
         of the Chair of the
