1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending the 2017 Stars of Life honorees.
1.3WHEREAS, emergency medical service (EMS) professionals serve thousands of Minnesotans
1.4every year and provide critical life-saving treatments and rescue operations throughout the state;
1.5and
1.6WHEREAS, emergency medical personnel often work in dangerous situations to help those
1.7in need of immediate care, placing their own safety at risk; and
1.8WHEREAS, the Minnesota Ambulance Association (MAA) and the American Ambulance
1.9Association (AAA) are dedicated to advocating and promoting EMS and excellence in emergency
1.10medical care; and
1.11WHEREAS, the MAA and AAA annually recognize as Stars of Life those EMS professionals
1.12who stand out among their peers for their exceptional achievements in emergency care and on
1.13March 14, 2017, will honor the 2017 Stars of Life at a ceremony held in St. Paul; and
1.14WHEREAS, Stars of Life honorees are nominated by their respective ambulance service
1.15directors and awarded for accomplishments in EMS care as outstanding ambulance service
1.16employees; on-duty or off-duty service above the call of duty; setting significant records; skills and
1.17abilities as an EMS provider; positive image and commitment demonstrated; or local leadership in
1.18development of community partnerships or programs; and
1.19WHEREAS, the 2017 Stars of Life honorees include those serving both rural and urban
1.20areas and represent the exceptional care that EMS professionals provide residents of our state; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22congratulates the 2017 Stars of Life honorees and commends those receiving this award for their
1.23achievements and continuing dedication to their patients and communities.
1.24BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.25enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.26Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the 2017 Stars of Life
1.27honorees.
