Present: Senator Jennifer A. McEwen - Chair, Senator Grant Hauschild - Vice Chair, Senator Gene Dornink, Senator Glenn H. Gruenhagen, Senator Robert J. Kupec, Senator Bill Lieske, Senator John Marty, Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten, Senator Sandra L. Pappas, Senator Nathan Wesenberg

Senator Jennifer A. McEwen called the meeting to order at 12:34 pm.

S.F. 58: Senator Murphy: Worker safety requirements establishment and appropriation.

Senator Erin Murphy presented S.F. 58

 

Senator Murphy offers A-1 author amendment.

            Senator Grant Hauschild moved A-1 amendment.

            The A-1 amendment is adopted on a voice vote.

The following witnesses testified in favor of passing S.F. 58 as amended:

There were no witnesses signed up to testify against passing S.F. 58 as amended.

 

Discussion.

 

Commissioner Blissenbach & Mr. Makarios joined Senator Murphy at the witness stand to answer questions during discussion.

 

Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten moved that S.F. 58 be recommended for passage and re-referred to the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety.

            The motion carried on a voice vote, and when so amended the bill do pass and be re-referred to the Judiciary

            and Public Safety Committee.

 

Senator Oumou Verbeten moved that S.F. 58, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee. - MOTION CARRIED.

S.F. 2: Senator Mann: Paid family and medical leave establishment and appropriation.

Senator Alice Mann presented S.F. 2

 

Senator Mann offered A-8 authors amendment.

Senator John Marty moved the A-8 amendment.

            The A-8 amendment was adopted on a voice vote.

 

Chair Jennifer McEwen passed the gavel to Vice Chair Grant Hauschild - 1:48pm.

Senator Glenn Gruenhagen offers the A-9 amendment.

            Senator Gruenhagen requests a roll call vote.

Ms. Schothorst & Mr. Reynolds return to the witness stand to answer questions regarding 

the A-9 amendment. 

Lieske requests the vote be recorded in the Senate Journal.

 

Vice Chair Hauschild passed the gavel to Chair McEwen - 2:31pm.

The following Senators voted against the A-9 amendment:

Chair McEwen declared the Senate Committee on Labor in recess at 2:36pm; the committee will reconvene at 5:15pm.

 

Chair McEwen called the Senate Committee on Labor back to order at 5:23pm. A quorum is present.

 

Ms. Fitzpatrick joined the witness stand to answer questions related to S.F. 2.

 

Senator Gruenhagen offered the A-10 amendment. 

            Senator Gruenhagen requested a roll call vote, and that it be recorded in the journal.

Discussion.

 

Senator Oumou Verbeten moved that S.F. 2 as amended be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.

            The motion carried on a voice vote, and when so amended the bill do pass and be 

re-referred to the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.


Senator Oumou Verbeten moved that S.F. 2, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Health and Human Services Committee.
