Present: Senator Jennifer A. McEwen - Chair, Senator Grant Hauschild - Vice Chair, Senator Glenn H. Gruenhagen, Senator Robert J. Kupec, Senator Bill Lieske, Senator John Marty, Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten, Senator Sandra L. Pappas, Senator Nathan Wesenberg

Absent: Senator Gene Dornink

Senator Jennifer A. McEwen called the meeting to order at 8:36am.

S.F. 5266: Senator McEwen: Supplemental appropriations and other provisions modification related to the Bureau of Mediation Services.

Chair Jen McEwen gave an overview of actions taken on Senate File 5266:

            -The adoption of the A-2 Delete Everything, A-7, A-16, A-10, A-9, A-12 as orally 

amended, A-3 as amended by the A-14.

-The rejection of the A-15, A-5 as orally amended, A-17.

 

The gavel was passed to Senator Sandy Pappas at 8:40am.

 

Discussion.

 

Senator Bill Lieske moved the A-24 amendment.

            Senator Glenn Gruenhagen requested a roll call vote:

 

YEA- Gruenhagen, Lieske, Wesenberg.


NAY- McEwen, Hauschild, Marty, Oumou Verbeten, Pappas.

 

Absent- Dornink, Kupec.

 

There being 3 yes votes, and 5 no votes, the A-24 amendment was not adopted.

 

Senator Gruenhagen moved the A-20 amendment.

 

John Thorson, Legislative Director for LiUNA Minnesota & North Dakota answered member questions.

 

Tom Hanson, Lobbyist with Winthrop & Weinstein on behalf of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance, answered member questions.

 

Commissioner Nicole Blissenbach, Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry, answered member questions.

 

Senator Gruenhagen withdrew the A-20 amendment.

 

Senator Gruenhagen moved the A-19 amendment.

            Senator Gruenhagen requested a roll call vote:

 

YEA- Gruenagen, Lieske, Wesenberg.


NAY- McEwen, Hauschild, Marty, Oumou Verbeten, Pappas.

 

Absent- Dornink, Lieske.

 

There being 3 yes votes, and 5 no votes, the A-19 amendment was not adopted.

 

Senator McEwen moved that SF 5266, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Senate Finance Committee.

            The motion was adopted along a voice vote.

 

The Labor Committee stand adjourned.

 

Senator McEwen moved that S.F. 5266, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Finance Committee. - MOTION ADOPTED.
