Absent: Senator Kelly L. Morrison

Senator Erin P. Murphy called the meeting to order at 5:40 pm.

S.F. 3: Senator Boldon: Voter registration provisions modification.

Senator Boldon presented SF3.

 

Testimony was heard from Secretary of State Steve Simon. 

 

Senator Boldon moved the A52 amendment. 

 

Senator Jasinski requested roll call vote. 

 

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 3, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 293: Senator Oumou Verbeten: Ban the box law expansion to include boards, commissions and other similar entities.

Senator Oumou Verbeten moved the A9 amendment.

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote. 

 

Testimony was heard from Charles Cox, Office of the Secretary of State; Jenna Lipman, Public Records and Involvement Coordinator.

 

Chair Murphy moved SF 293 be recommended to pass. SF 293 passed with divided voice vote. 

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 293, as amended, be recommended to pass. - MOTION PREVAILED.

S.F. 1514: Senator Kunesh: Public educational radio stations appropriation.

Senator Kunesh moved the A1 amendment. 

 

Motion prevailed with divided voice vote. 

 

Testimony was heard from Joel Glaser, President of AMPERS Diverse Radio for Minnesota's Communities.

 

Chair Murphy laid SF 1514 as amended over possible inclusion in omnibus bill. 

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 1514, as amended, laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.

S.F. 1914: Senator Kunesh: Public educational radio stations appropriation.

Chair Murphy moved the A1 amendment on SF 1914. 

 

Motion prevailed wirh divided voice vote.

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 1914, as amended, laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.

S.F. 869: Senator Cwodzinski: Block grants appropriations for public stations.

Senator Cwodzinski presented SF 869. Senator Cwodzinski moved to orally amend SF 869 as follows: on line 1.5 and 1.7 insert "television" after "public".

 

Motion prevailed with voice vote.

Chair Murphy laid SF 869 over for possible inclusion. 

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 869, as amended, laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.

S.F. 1816: Senator Murphy: Office of Administrative Hearings deficiency funding authorization and appropriation.

Senator Mitchell assumed Chair duties. 

 

Senator Murphy moved SF 1816 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the committee on Finance. 

 

Testimony was heard from Chief Judge Jenny Starr. 

 

Motion prevailed with unanimous voice vote. 

Senator Murphy moved that S.F. 1816, as amended, recommended to pass and re-referred to the Finance Committee. - MOTION PREVAILED.
