1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the service of Txhiaj Looj Wilson Her.
1.3WHEREAS, Txhiaj Looj Wilson Her was born in Laos in 1969 to parents Tong Ly and Vam
1.4Khwb Her and attended school and completed his elementary education there; and
1.5WHEREAS, in 1985, Txhiaj and his family escaped to Thailand after the fall of Laos and
1.6stayed in a Thai refugee camp; and
1.7WHEREAS, from 1986 to 1988, he attended Catholic seminary school in Chiang Mai,
1.8Thailand, and also served in the youth program developing educational and cultural classes to teach
1.9the youth; and
1.10WHEREAS, in 1988, he married Mao Vang and in September 1990 they moved to Visalia,
1.11California, where he attended English learning classes; and
1.12WHEREAS, in 1993, he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and began working as a CNC
1.13programmer and CNC system inspector; and
1.14WHEREAS, from 2003 to 2007, he served as a Deacon at Hmong First Baptist Church; and
1.15WHEREAS, from 2008 to 2010, he served as President of the Milwaukee Hawj Association,
1.16and served a second term from 2013 to 2017; and
1.17WHEREAS, as a community leader, he is largely active with the Hmong community in
1.18Minnesota and Wisconsin with cultural activities and small businesses; and
1.19WHEREAS, he is passionate about strengthening the relationships among all Hmong clans
1.20and communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin; and
1.21WHEREAS, he currently works as a CNC programmer and quality control inspector, serves
1.22as a board member of the Hawj United of Wisconsin, and is an adviser for the Hawj Family
1.23Association of Milwaukee; and
1.24WHEREAS, he and his wife live in Wisconsin and have four children and four grandchildren;
1.26NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.27commends Txhiaj Looj Wilson Her for his many years of outstanding service to his community,
1.28state, and country.
1.29BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.30enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.31Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Txhiaj Looj Wilson
