1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Linda Albertson for being named and promoted to l'Ordre
1.3des Palmes académiques.
1.4WHEREAS, Linda Albertson is a French teacher at Eagan High School and previously
1.5taught French at Apple Valley High School; and
1.6WHEREAS, l'Ordre des Palmes académiques recognizes those who have rendered eminent
1.7service to French education and have contributed actively to the prestige of French culture; and
1.8WHEREAS, for those who are named and promoted to l'Ordre des Palmes académiques,
1.9this distinction acknowledges their merits, talents, and exemplary activities; and
1.10WHEREAS, in 1808 Napoleon I created the Palmes académiques to honor and recognize
1.11eminent members of the University. The Palmes académiques became a decoration in 1866
1.12under Napoleon III, at which time the honor was also extended to nonteaching persons who had
1.13rendered illustrious service to French education and culture; and
1.14WHEREAS, the Palmes académiques is the oldest nonmilitary French decoration; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.16recognizes Linda Albertson for being named and promoted to l'Ordre des Palmes académiques.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Linda Albertson.
