1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing V. J. Smith on his inauguration as President of the National
1.3Men Against Destruction, Defending Against Drugs and Social-Disorder
1.4(MAD DADS).
1.5WHEREAS, MAD DADS encourages, motivates, and guides committed men and women
1.6in the struggle to save children, communities, and themselves from the social ills that presently
1.7plague neighborhoods, reclaiming their neighborhoods, one child at a time; and
1.8WHEREAS, V. J. Smith has overcome many adversities, turned his life around, and since
1.9then has promoted hope and supported communities throughout north and south Minneapolis,
1.10Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, and St. Paul; and
1.11WHEREAS, V. J. is a leader in his community, is committed to mentoring at-risk youth
1.12on the streets, and has a passion to helping young people headed in the wrong direction turn
1.13their lives around; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.15congratulates V. J. Smith and thanks him for his dedication to his community.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to V. J. Smith.
