1.2honoring Korben B. Weidenborner of the Civil Air Patrol for receiving the 1.3General Ira C. Eaker Award. 1.4WHEREAS, the Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, 1.5has three missions: aerospace education of the American people, emergency services, and the 1.6cadet program; the cadet program provides leadership opportunities to nearly 25,000 young 1.7Americans; and 1.8WHEREAS, the General Ira C. Eaker Award is the third milestone in the cadet program, 1.9and is earned after the receipt of the Amelia Earhart Award, completing all of the achievements 1.10in the cadet program, completing the cadet officer school, and passing a writing and speech 1.11requirement; and 1.12WHEREAS, Korben B. Weidenborner of the Civil Air Patrol has been active in youth 1.13sports and speech club, involved with his church, and has volunteered extensively in order to 1.14benefit his community; he has accomplished a great deal and taken on numerous duties as a 1.15cadet in the St. Cloud Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, and has completed all of the 1.16requirements necessary to earn the prestigious General Ira C. Eaker Award; and 1.17WHEREAS, Korben will receive the award at the North Hennepin Squadron Annual 1.18Awards Banquet on Friday, January 18, 2013, at New Hope Church; and 1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it 1.20that it congratulates Korben B. Weidenborner of the Civil Air Patrol on receiving the General 1.21Ira C. Eaker Award. 1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair 1.24of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Korben B. Weidenborner.
