1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the combat service of Captain William David Isaacson.
1.3WHEREAS, William David Isaacson, then a second lieutenant, became a naval aviator in
1.4June 1965; and
1.5WHEREAS, on August 19, 1966, flying a mission against Viet Cong targets in the midst of
1.6a church and government buildings, and under intense fire, he achieved direct hits on each of his
1.7targets, earning the Gold Star for his outstanding airmanship; and
1.8WHEREAS, on January 9, 1967, he led a mission in support of troops near Quang Ngai
1.9City, delivering his ordinance with pinpoint accuracy despite intense hostile fire; his exceptional
1.10flying ability and devotion to duty were rewarded with the Distinguished Flying Cross; and
1.11WHEREAS, on June 2, 1967, he helped repel a hostile attempt to overrun Marine positions
1.12near Vinh Huy, displaying extraordinary aeronautical skill and composure under fire, earning
1.13the Silver Star; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.15honors Captain William David Isaacson for courage and valor in the service of his country.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.17an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.18the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Captain William
1.19David Isaacson.
