1.2congratulating Jeff Olson on his retirement as
1.3commissioner of veterans affairs.
1.4WHEREAS, Jeff Olson has served Minnesota veterans and all
1.5Minnesota citizens with distinction, in various capacities
1.6throughout his career; and
1.7WHEREAS, during the Vietnam War, he served in the United
1.8States Army, attached to the United States Armed Forces Courier
1.9Service, a joint services mission responsible for the
1.10preparation and transportation of top-secret materials
1.11throughout the world; and
1.12WHEREAS, he represented Minnesota's 450,000 veterans in the
1.13Cabinet and at legislative and congressional hearings; and
1.14WHEREAS, he supports numerous veterans organizations and is
1.15currently chairman of the American Legion's National Convention
1.16Commission, Vice Chairman of the National Legislative Council,
1.17and Vice President of the National Association of Directors of
1.18Veterans Affairs; and
1.19WHEREAS, he served as commissioner of veterans affairs
1.20under Governor Jesse Ventura and Governor Tim Pawlenty; and
1.21WHEREAS, he retired from the position of commissioner of
1.22veterans affairs in December of 2004; NOW, THEREFORE,
1.23BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.24Jeff Olson is congratulated for his distinguished service to
2.1Minnesota veterans and to all citizens of Minnesota.
2.2BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
2.3directed to prepare a copy of this resolution, to be
2.4authenticated by his signature and that of the Chair of the
2.5Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to
2.6Jeff Olson.
