EXPLANATION OF
CONSENT CALENDAR
Bills on the Consent Calendar may be considered for final
passage by the Senate today. Each bill has had two prior
readings and has been acted upon by one or more standing
committees. Each bill has been printed and copies have been
placed on members' desks for at least one day. Bills on the
Consent Calendar did not appear on General Orders and
therefore were not considered by the Committee of the Whole.
Bills on the Consent Calendar were placed there bya
recommendation of a standing committee which considered the
bill to be noncontroversial. Pursuant to the Rules of the
Senate, bills may be removed from the Consent Calendar and
referred to the Committee of the Whole if three members
object to the bill because it is controversial. Each bill is
given a Third reading prior to the final roll
call.
