Author: Senator Mark T. Johnson

Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

Date: March 3, 2020

S.F. No. 3319 allows a school board or the governing authority of a nonpublic school to award to a veteran a high school diploma.  The veteran must be a current or former Minnesota resident who was previously enrolled in high school, but did not receive a diploma, who actively served in World War II, the Korean War, or during the Vietnam conflict.  The Commissioners of Veterans Affairs and Education must develop an application form for this purpose.  Specifies how to and who can submit an application. Allows an affidavit to support the application if acceptable documentation is not readily available.
