S.F. No. 2029 - Clarifying the Application of Certain Laws Governing Audits of Counties by the State Auditor

Author: Senator Bill Weber

Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

Date: February 17, 2020

S.F. No. 2029 amends the provisions related to county audits by the state auditor.  This section expands the definition of “county” to include special districts consisting exclusively of counties operating under a joint powers agreement.  The expansion of the definition allows counties operating under a joint powers agreement to choose to have the annual audit performed by the state auditor or a CPA firm meeting certain requirements.
