Section 1.  Contents of application; other information.  The application for a driver’s license or identification card must include a space for an applicant to indicate emergency contacts as provided in section 2.

Section 2. Emergency contacts; data classification.  An applicant for a driver’s license or identification card may request that the commissioner of public safety maintain an electronic record of contact information for up to three emergency contacts for the applicant. A person who has provided emergency contact information may amend their emergency contact information at no cost. The emergency contacts data are private data on individuals but may be shared with peace officers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and emergency department staff to notify the contacts regarding an emergency.

Effective date. This bill is effective July 1, 2020.
