S.F. No. 2085 - Transit Opt-Out Financial Assistance

Author: Senator David J. Osmek

Prepared By: Alexis C. Stangl, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)

Date: March 28, 2019

Section 1.  Financial assistance; regional allocation.  Under current law, the Metropolitan Council must, in fiscal years 2018 and 2019, allocate a minimum 0.35 percent of revenue from the regional allocation of the motor vehicle sales tax (RAMVST) to suburban transit providers (opt-outs); this is in addition to the formula-based assistance.  S.F. No. 2085 strikes the reference to fiscal years 2018 and 2019; this means that this allocation becomes permanent.
