Section 1.  Contents of application; other information.  The application for a driver’s license or identification card must include a space for an applicant to indicate emergency contacts as provided in section 2.

Section 2. Emergency contacts.  An applicant for a driver’s license or identification card may request that the commissioner of public safety maintain an electronic record of contact information for up to three emergency contacts for the applicant. The applicant must obtain written consent from each contact. The emergency contacts data are private data on individuals but may be shared with peace officers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and emergency department staff to notify the contacts regarding an emergency.
