S.F. No. 356 - Mobile food shelf grants appropriation

Author: Senator Scott M. Jensen

Prepared By:

Date: March 19, 2019

S.F. No. 356 authorizes Hunger Solutions to operate a grant program, through which existing mobile food shelf programs may receive grants of up to $25,000, and new mobile food shelf programs may receive grants of up to $75,000. The grants must prioritize proposals that serve unserved or underserved areas, create new programs or expand existing programs, have strong support in their community, leverage other funding sources, and commit to maintaining the program for multiple years. Applicants must describe how they satisfy these criteria in their application. $1,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2020 for this grant program, split evenly between grants to new and existing programs. The unencumbered balance after fiscal year 2020 does not cancel but is available in fiscal year 2021.
