This bill classifies student complaint data currently collected and maintained with the Office of Higher Education (OHE).

Section 1. Student complaint data. Adds a cross-reference in chapter 13, the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, to the substantive statutes governing student complaints submitted to OHE.

Section 2. Public information. Makes student complaint data private. Authorizes OHE to share any records, except for accreditation reports, with: (1) law enforcement; or (2) in connection with a legal or administrative proceeding to defend certain decisions or to enforce a requirement in law.

Section 3. Private information. Classifies student complaint data as private data for complaints submitted to OHE under the Minnesota Private and Out-of-State Public Postsecondary Education Act.

Section 4. Private information. Classifies student complaint data as private data for complaints submitted to OHE related to private career schools.
