Author: Senator Carla J. Nelson

Prepared By: Nora Pollock, Senate Counsel (651/297-8066)

Date: March 13, 2019

This bill strikes the sunset date of the sales tax exemption for admissions to games, events, and activities sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The sunset date has been extended since 2011, when the exemption was initially set to expire. The MSHSL must use the savings resulting from the exemption to make charitable grants to fund, assist, recognize, or promote high school students' participation in extracurricular activities. Effective the day following final enactment.
