Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

S.F. No. 2079 amends the driver’s license chapter of law related to veteran designation. Current law requires the applicant to be a veteran and have a certified copy of discharge papers. The bill strikes clause (1), which is the requirement that the applicant be a veteran, and requires the applicant to have a certified copy of the veteran’s DD-214 or other official document from the official military personnel file of the veteran that describes the honorable service of the veteran.
