Section 1 [Social Media, Required Warning]

Subdivision 1 establishes definitions for purposes of the bill.

Subdivision 2 requires the operator of a social media platform to give a specified warning upon initial access in a 24 hour period by an account holder in MN. Second warning required if access time exceeds 3 hours in a 24-hour period.

Subdivision 3 requires a retail dealer in mobile devices to give a specified warning in 12 point bold font on paper to a purchaser of a mobile device. The dealer must have the purchaser electronically sign an acknowledgment of receipt.

The act is effective Jan 1, 2020.
