S.F. No. 225 appropriates funds from the general fund to the Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for a onetime grant to remodel the Armed Forces Service Center at the Minneapolis-St Paul Airport and refurbish the center’s furniture and beds that are used by service members between connecting flights and while awaiting ground transportation to and from military duty assignments. Prior to issuing the grant, the commissioner must ensure matching funds from the center, and ensure that no part of the grant is spent on salary or related benefits for any person or for the operations of the center. This bill is effective July 1, 2019.
