S.F. No. 144 - Exceptions to Vehicle Weight Limits for Sewage Septic Tank Trucks

Author: Senator Bruce D. Anderson

Prepared By: Alexis C. Stangl, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)

Date: January 25, 2019

Section 1.  Sewage septic tank trucks.  Vehicle weight limits do not apply to a sewage septic tank truck that is used exclusively to transport sewage from septic or holding tanks. The truck must travel on the most direct route between the tank and the location where the vehicle’s contents are unloaded.

Sec. 2.  Recycling and garbage vehicles.  Local load restrictions and seasonal load restrictions do not apply to sewage septic tank trucks that are used exclusively to haul sewage from septic or holding tanks. A violation of local or seasonal load restrictions by a sewage septic tank truck while engaged in collection is not subject to criminal penalties but is still subject to a civil penalty for excess weight.
