Under current law, a child support order may be modified upon a showing of certain specified circumstances that make an order unreasonable and unfair. A change in the law itself does not constitute a substantial change in circumstances for purposes of modifying a child support order. This bill would modify that rule so that it could constitute a substantial change in the circumstances if it otherwise meets the standards for modification under the law.
