SF481 makes several minor modifications to the licensure requirements for dental assistants and expands the restorative procedures that licensed dental hygienists and dental assistants are able to perform.
Section 1(150A.06, subd. 3) adds dental assistant to this subdivision giving the Board of Dentistry the ability to waive all or part of the examination for dental assistants if the dental assistance presents evidence of having maintained an adequate scholastic standing.
Section 2 (150A.06, subd. 8) requires a dental assistant who is applying for licensure by credentials to have graduated from an accredited dental assisting program accredited by the commission on dental accreditation and be currently certified by the Dental Assisting National Board.
Section 3 (150A.10 ,subd. 4) authorizes a licensed dental hygienist or dental assistant to place, contour, and adjust class I, II and V supragingival composite restorations on primary and permanent dentition.
