Section 1. Weight Limits; Vehicles Transporting Milk.

Subdivision 1. Weight limits increase. Specified weight limits are increased by 10 percent for a single-unit vehicle that is hauling milk from the point of production to either another point to load additional milk or to the point of first processing. A special overweight permit is not required. The increase is not over and above the ten percent winter weight limit increase in current law.

Subdivision 2. Requirements; restrictions. A vehicle hauling milk under this section is subject to seasonal load restrictions, posted bridge load limits, and maximum weight ratings for tires and vehicle gross weights.

This section is effective the day following final enactment.

Section 2. Deficient Bridge Weight Limits; Study and Analysis. The commissioner of transportation must complete a study and analysis of posted weight limits on bridges to identify deficient bridges in the areas of the state where milk is transported. The study must be completed by November 15, 2017. Local road authorities must provide information on bridges to the commissioner. This section is effective the day following final enactment.
