Author: Senator Kathy Sheran

Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

Date: April 8, 2016

S.F. No. 2428 extends the duration of the legislative task force on child protection to December 31, 2020.  Current law sunsets the task force on the last day of the 2016 legislative session.  This bill also modifies the membership of the task force, requires that the task force meet at least quarterly, and requires an annual report containing information on progress toward the implementation of changes to the child protection system.

Section 2 requires legislative staff to draft legislation recodifying the Maltreatment of Minors Act (Minnesota Statutes, section 626.556).
