Section 1 [Tractor Rollover Protection Pilot Grant Program]

               Subd. 1 [Grants; eligibility] directs the Commissioner of Agriculture to make grants to Minnesota farmers for 70 percent of the cost of rollover protection for tractors that were built before 1987.  The grant is increased if necessary to limit the farmer’s cost per tractor to no more than $500.

               Subd. 2 [Promotion; administration] allows the Commissioner of Agriculture to spend up to 20 percent of program dollars on promotion and administration of the program.

               Subd. 3 [Nonstate contributions; appropriation] directs the commissioner to solicit nonstate contributions for the program and appropriates the contributions for program purposes.

               Subd. 4 [Expiration] provides for expiration of the program on June 30, 2019.

Section 2 [Appropriation] appropriates $1 million from the general fund to the Commissioner of Agriculture for the Tractor Rollover Protection Pilot Grant Program.
