S.F. No. 543 modifies medical assistance eligibility requirements for persons who are over age 64, who are blind, or who have a disability.
Section 1 (256B.056, subd. 3) increases the medical assistance asset eligibility limit from $3,000 to $10,000 for individuals and from $6,000 to $18,000 for households of two or more.
Section 2 (256B.056, subd. 4) increases the medical assistance income eligibility limit from 100 percent of the federal poverty guidelines to 133 percent of the federal poverty guidelines for the household size.
Section 3 (256B.056, subd. 5c) increases the excess income standard (aka the spenddown limit) from 75 percent to 100 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
