Provision

1

Extends the period for the imposition of the local sales tax in Albert Lea from the lesser of 10 years or when $15 million is raised to the lesser of 15 years or when the $15 million is raised.  Effective upon the city filing approval with the secretary of state.
 

2

Authorizes the city to file its approval of its local sales taxes originally authorized in 2005 and 2006 by June 15, 2014.  Under current general law, if a local government does not file a certificate of approval before the first day of the next legislative session, the law is deemed to be disapproved by such unit unless otherwise provided in the special law.  Effective the day after final enactment.
