Section 1 amends the chapter on automobile insurance, raising the minimum required insurance coverage level for limousines from $300,000 to $1.5 million per accident. 

Section 2 amends the definition of “limousine” in the chapter on vehicle registration.  Limitations on vehicle type are removed and the maximum number of passengers is increased to 15, including the driver.  

Section 3 makes conforming and technical changes in the section of statute on limousine plates. 

Section 4 amends the section of statute on limousine special license plates, raising the minimum required insurance coverage level for limousines from $100,000 to $1.5 million per person per accident, and from $300,000 to $1.5 million per accident. 

Section 5 amends the definition of “limousine” in the chapter on motor carrier regulations.   Limitations on vehicle type are removed and the maximum number of passengers is increased to 15, including the driver.  

All sections are effective on July 1, 2014, with sections 1 and 4 effective for policies issued or renewed on or after that date.
