S.F. No. 2472 - Open Meeting Law Notifications Expansion for State Agencies

Author: Senator Patricia Torres Ray

Prepared By: Alexis C. Stangl, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)

Date: March 24, 2014

S.F. No. 2472 allows state agencies to satisfy the publication requirements of the open meeting law by publishing either in the state register (currently the only option) or by posting on the agency Web site (proposed change).  Further a state agency may either keep a schedule of regular meetings on file at the primary office (currently required) or posted on the agency Web site (proposed change).  These provisions only apply to state agencies that are required or permitted by law to transact public business in a meeting.
