S.F. No. 2565 - St. Louis County Board Terms

Author: Senator David J. Tomassoni

Prepared By: Alexis C. Stangl, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)

Date: March 14, 2014

SF 2565 allows St. Louis County to designate that the commissioner for District 7 be elected at the 2014 election to serve a two-year term (instead of a four year term).  Starting with the 2016 elections, the commissioner from District 7 will be elected to a four-year term.  The legislature determines, under this act, that this change will satisfy the statutory requirement that county commissioners serve staggered terms.

The act is effective the day following final enactment and applies until the county goes through redistricting.
