S.F. No. 1702 - Itasca County Nursing Home; Issuance of Bonds

Author: Senator Tom Saxhaug

Prepared By: Eric S. Silvia, Senate Counsel (651/296-1771)

Date: February 27, 2014

S.F. 1702 authorizes Itasca County to issue both revenue bonds and general obligation bonds to finance the construction of a nursing home facility.  Special law authorized in 2003 required the county to issue only revenue bonds. Minnesota law does not require an election to authorize general obligation bonds for acquiring, improving, remodeling, or replacing an existing nursing home if the total number of beds for residents in all nursing homes in the county is not increased.

Effective the day after compliance with local approval and filing requirements.
