The bill prohibits tampering of off-road recreational vehicle odometers.

Section 1 defines “off-road recreational vehicle.”

Section 2 prohibits knowingly tampering with an off-road vehicle odometer with the intent to defraud.

Section 3 prohibits the advertisement for sale, sell, use or installation of any device that causes an odometer to register any mileage other than the true mileage.

Section 4 prohibits the sale of an off-road vehicle with the knowledge that the mileage registered is not the true mileage without disclosing the fact to the prospective buyer.

Section 5 provides that when a repaired or replaced off-road vehicle odometer is incapable of registering the true mileage, the odometer must be adjusted to read zero and written notice must be attached to the vehicle by the owner specifying the mileage prior to repair or replacement.

Section 6 provides a July 1, 2013, effective date.
