S.F. No. 1069 - Extending Special Agricultural Homestead Provision for Qualifying Properties in Marshall County

Author: Senator LeRoy A. Stumpf

Prepared By: Eric S. Silvia, Senate Counsel (651/296-1771)

Date: April 8, 2013

S.F. 1069 permanently extends a special agricultural homestead provision for qualifying properties in Marshall County. To qualify, the property must:

  • (1) have been classified as agricultural homesteads for the 2008 assessment;
  • (2) the property owner abandoned the homestead due to the March 2009 floods;
  • (3) the property is located in Marshall County;
  • (4) the land remains under the same ownership; and
  • (5) the owner lives within 50 miles of one of the agricultural parcels.

Originally, the provision was effective on a temporary two-year basis which expired with taxes payable in 2012.

Effective for assessment year 2012 and thereafter.
