S.F. No. 1414 - Metropolitan Airport Commission Meetings (First Engrossment)

Author: Senator Melisa López Franzen

Prepared By: Alexis C. Stangl, Senate Counsel (651/296-4397)

Date: March 19, 2013

S.F. No. 1414 encourages the Metropolitan Airport Commission (MAC) to hold its hearings or meetings of broad public interest outside of the airport security area and in a location where a person can attend without providing identification.  A meeting or hearing is deemed to be of broad public interest if 100 or more people are likely to attend.  This bill is effective the day following final enactment.

Background:  Currently, most of the MAC meetings and hearings are held in Terminal 1 (Lindberg Terminal) at the MSP Airport.  The meeting area is inside of the secure area, so members of the public must complete a form and present a government issued photo ID before they may enter the secure area to attend the meeting.
