S.F. No. 1259 - Child Care Assistance Accredation

Author: Senator Melissa H. Wiklund

Prepared By: Joan White, Senate Counsel (651/296-3814)

Date: March 12, 2013

This bill modifies the child care provider rate differential that is tied to accreditation.  The bill requires the Commissioner of Human Services to accept applications from accrediting organizations beginning in July, 2013, and annually thereafter.  The provider rate differential must be paid to centers with an accreditation from an approved organization.  The commissioner must publish the approved accreditation organizations, reassess them every two years, and notify the organization if they no longer meet the criteria.
