SF 825 makes modifications to the Medical Practice Act.

Section 1 (147.001) states that sections 147.01 to 147.37 may be cited as the "Minnesota Medical Practice Act."

Section 2 (147.01, subdivision 1) permits more than one board member of the Board of Medical Practice to be a doctor of osteopathy.

Section 3 (147.02, subdivision 1) permits an applicant for licensure to appear before the board to show that the applicant satisfies the licensure requirements.

Section 4 (147.0911) authorizes a licensee who is unable to practice due to illness, use of alcohol, drugs, chemicals, or any other material, or as a result, of a mental, physical, or psychological condition, may participate in the health professional services program.

Section 5 (147.61) states that the Board of Medical Practice oversees the following professions:  physician assistants, acupuncture vacationers, respiratory care practitioners, traditional midwives, registered naturopathic doctors, and athletic trainers.
