Section 1 [Purpose] expresses the wish of the Legislature and Minnesota's American Indian veterans to honor American Indian veterans who have served in the U.S. armed forces, during peacetime and war.

Section 2 [Plaque Authorized] permits a plaque to be placed in the court of honor on the Capitol grounds to recognize the valiant service of American Indian veterans from this state who have honorably and bravely served in the U.S. armed forces, during peacetime and war.  The plaque must be furnished by the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council and must be approved by the Commissioner of Veteran Affairs and the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board.

Section 3 [Effective Date] makes this act effective the day following enactment.
