SF 2128 permits a prescription for a controlled substance in schedule II, III, IV, or V to be electronically transmitted if it complies with the standards established pursuant to section 62J.497, and those portions of the Code of Federal Regulations that pertain to electronic prescribing or by facsimile if it complies with the applicable requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations.  This section also requires the original electronic or facsimile prescription to be stored by the pharmacy that dispenses the controlled substance prescription to store the original prescription for a period of no less than two years in an electronic database and requires that the database have the ability to retrieve the original prescription as transmitted to the pharmacy.
