Section 1, subdivision 3a [Maintenance plumber] provides a definition for “maintenance plumber.”
Section 2, subdivision 2 [Powers; duties; administrative support] adds a maintenance plumber category to the responsibilities of the Plumbing Board.
Section 3, subdivision 1 [License required] requires that a license be obtained by individuals engaged as maintenance plumbers. Provides that no individual may work as a maintenance plumber unless they have the required license; are engaged in the maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment, apparatus, or facilities at a resort property; and the resort property is owned or leased by the individual or the individual’s employer.
Section 4, subdivision 1a [Exemptions from licensing] includes licensed maintenance plumbers as individuals who may sign a certificate of responsible person for purposes of exemption from licensing for employees working on the maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment, apparatus, or facilities owned or leased by the employer.
Section 5, subdivision 2a [Maintenance plumber exam] provides that the experience requirements for individuals to take the maintenance plumber’s examination are four years of practical plumbing experience or four years of experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment, apparatus, or facilities. Allows the Plumbing Board to adopt rules.
Section 6, subdivision 1 [Application, examination, and license fees] provides that until the plumbing board adopts rules pertaining to the maintenance plumber’s license, the commissioner will develop an application to show that the applicant has the appropriate training, experience, and knowledge to maintain and repair plumbing. Provides that maintenance plumber’s licenses are two-year licenses. Specifies that the fee for a certificate of responsible person by an employer is $40 for maintenance plumbers.
Effective date. Sections 1 to 6 are effective January 1, 2012.
