The Commissioner of the Department of Human Services (DHS) must propose and draft statutory changes to address the frequency of nonemergency medical transportation level of need assessments. These proposed statutory changes must also address eligibility period length of time once the recipient is determined to be eligible for these services.
The DHS commissioner must consult with nonemergency medical transportation recipients, nonemergency medical transportation providers, and the Association of Minnesota Counties in proposing and drafting these statutory changes. The statutory changes must be consistent with applicable federal law.
The DHS commissioner must submit the proposed statutory changes to the appropriate members in both bodies of the Minnesota State Legislature by January 15, 2012.
