1.1Senator Weber moved to amend Senate Resolution No. 15 as follows (A17):
1.2Page 1, delete lines 5 to 24 and insert:
1.3"WHEREAS, Governor Tim Walz was recorded claiming "On the iPhone, they've got
1.4that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day.
1.5Two-hundred-twenty-five and dropping!"; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Board of Investment shows the Minnesota holds
1.71,600,000 shares of Tesla stock in its pension funds; and
1.8WHEREAS, Governor Tim Walz serves as Chair of the State Board of Investment; and
1.9WHEREAS, the mission of the State Board of Investment is to monitor and evaluate
1.10the investment programs as a fiduciary with the goal of making sound investment decisions;
1.11and
1.12WHEREAS, Governor Tim Walz's public language regularly attacking Tesla and its
1.13CEO inspires opposition to the company and discourages the public from purchasing
its
1.14products serves to threaten the company's performance on the stock exchange; and NOW,
1.15THEREFORE
1.16BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it is the position of
the
1.17body that Governor Tim Walz's rhetoric threatens the retirement of hundreds of thousands
1.18of Minnesotans represented in one of Minnesota's public pensions.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
1.20copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by his signature and that of the Chair
of the
1.21Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Governor Tim Walz. "
