1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 148.211, subdivision 1c, is amended to read:
1.6 Subd. 1c.
Postgraduate practice. A nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist who
1.7qualifies for licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse must practice for
at least
1.82,080 hours, within the context of a collaborative agreement
, within a hospital or integrated
1.9clinical setting where advanced practice registered nurses and physicians work together
to
1.10provide patient care. The nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist shall submit written
1.11evidence to the board with the application, or upon completion of the required collaborative
1.12practice experience. For purposes of this subdivision, a collaborative agreement is
a mutually
1.13agreed upon plan for the overall working relationship between a nurse practitioner
or clinical
1.14nurse specialist, and one or more
physicians licensed under chapter 147 or in another state
1.15or United States territory, or one or more advanced practice registered nurses licensed
under
1.16this section that designates the scope of collaboration necessary to manage the care
of
1.17patients. The nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist, and one of the collaborating
1.18physicians or advanced practice registered nurses, must have experience in providing
care
1.19to patients with the same or similar medical problems of the following:
1.20(1) physicians licensed under chapter 147 or in another state or United States territory
1.21who have experience in providing care to patients with the same or similar medical
problems;
1.22or
1.23(2) advanced practice registered nurses licensed under this section who have at least
1.24three years of practice as an advanced practice registered nurse and who have experience
1.25providing care to patients with the same or similar medical problems.
1.26 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 148.211, is amended by adding a subdivision to
1.27read:
1.28 Subd. 1d. Postgraduate practice in certain specialties. Notwithstanding subdivision
1.291c, a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist who provides services other
than primary
1.30care services or mental health services in their first 2,080 hours of practice must
complete
1.31their collaborative practice agreement in a setting where advanced practice nurses
and
1.32physicians work together to provide patient care."
