1.4Page 47, delete section 41 and insert:

1.5    "Sec. 41. [609.433] MONEY LAUNDERING AND PUBLIC CORRUPTION BY A
1.6LEGISLATOR.
1.7(a) A legislator must not author a bill that appropriates money to a nonprofit organization
1.8within three years of accepting a campaign contribution from that organization.
1.9(b) A legislator or former legislator must not accept a campaign contribution from a
1.10nonprofit organization that was the recipient of state money in a bill authored by the legislator
1.11or former legislator within the previous three years, whether the bill was enacted or not.
1.12(c) A legislator or former legislator who violates this section is guilty of a gross
1.13misdemeanor if the campaign contribution is less than $3,000. If the campaign contribution
1.14is $3,000 or more, the legislator or former legislator is guilty of a felony and may be
1.15sentenced to imprisonment for not more than two years or to payment of a fine of not more
1.16than $4,000, or both.
1.17EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2025, and applies to crimes
1.18committed on or after that date."
