1.3 "Sec. 9. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 327C.06, is amended by adding a subdivision
1.4to read:
1.5 Subd. 4. Rent increase permitted by majority vote. (a) Subdivision 3 does not apply
1.6if the park owner's proposed rent increase is approved by a vote of the majority of
the homes
1.7within the manufactured home park as provided under this subdivision. Only one resident
1.8per home may cast a vote under this subdivision.
1.9(b) The park owner must send each home a ballot by certified mail with a return receipt
1.10requested. The ballot must include information about the proposed rent increase, the
reason
1.11for the rent increase, how the increased revenue from the rent increase will be used,
and, if
1.12the rent increase is proposed to make improvements to the home park, the deadline
for the
1.13completion of the improvements.
1.14(c) A resident may bring a civil action against a park owner and recover statutory
damages
1.15in the amount of $10,000 and reasonable attorney fees if:
1.16(1) the park owner coerces the resident to vote in favor of a rent increase under
this
1.17subdivision; or
1.18(2) the park owner knowingly makes a false statement on a ballot provided under this
1.19subdivision."
1.20Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
