(b) A person who violates this section may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more
1.7than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $40,000, or both, if the transferee
1.8possesses or uses the weapon within one year of the transfer in furtherance of an
assault of
1.9a public safety officer or any other offense that causes bodily harm to a public safety
officer.
1.10As used in this paragraph, "public safety officer" has the meaning given in section
299A.41,
1.11subdivision 4."
