A senate resolution
honoring the life of Mary J. Brenny.
WHEREAS, Mary J. Brenny was the fifth of 15 children born to Peter and Sophia Lampert
and grew up on her family's dairy farm in the Bowlus area; and
WHEREAS, Mary attended Superior State Teachers College in Superior, Wisconsin, and
Villa Scholastica in Duluth; and
WHEREAS, on August 22, 1946, she married Clemens Brenny at Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Church in Little Falls; and
WHEREAS, Mary and Clem owned and operated the Brenny Funeral Homes in Little
Falls, Pierz, Royalton, and Upsala until their retirement, and for many years they also owned and
operated the Brenny Ambulance Service in Morrison County; and
WHEREAS, Mary also taught school for many years and served for ten years as Assistant
County Superintendent of Schools for Morrison County; and
WHEREAS, Mary devoted her life to her family, helped her husband run their business,
and was actively involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations; and
WHEREAS, Mary J. Brenny passed away on December 4, 2008, and will be dearly missed
by those who knew her; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it honors the life of Mary J.
Brenny and extends its sincere condolences to her family and friends.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by his signature and that of the Chair of the
Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Mary J. Brenny.
